My journey began with humble steps, selling appliances at Sears while pursuing a business degree. It's been a path shaped by grace and faith, and I'm grateful for every lesson learned along the way. After graduating from Liberty University in 2004, I pursued a career in pharmaceutical sales, but failed to find long-term fulfillment. In 2009, I navigated my career towards entrepreneurship and started a small used car lot.It was there that an opportunity arose to sell storage sheds, and I decided to pursue it, not realizing at the time the significant role it would play in my future. The next 9 years would prove to be some of the hardest years of my life. Struggling to find purpose and having strayed from my relationship with God, I faced battles with depression and alcoholism, among other challenges. This cost me my business and led me down a destructive path that damaged relationships around me and almost cost me my life. I knew something had to change. I began seeking help and I moved back home to start life over. It was there, amidst the familiar landscapes of my hometown and among my family, that I began building a relationship with Jesus and found a new sense of purpose. Inspired by a desire to serve my community, I enrolled in nursing school, but God had other plans. In late 2020, an opportunity arose to open a shed lot next to my father's motorcycle dealership in Summersville. What began as a side project during my final year of nursing school quickly blossomed into a thriving business. With each shed sold, I saw not just a transaction, but a chance to provide practical solutions and demonstrate genuine care for my customers. As the business flourished, so did my vision. I expanded quickly to Beckley, and a few months later, after graduating from nursing school, I expanded further to Princeton and Christiansburg. I was driven by a desire to build a resilient company where people thrive and God is glorified.
My vision for Ascential Buildings gained further clarity over the next year. I now wanted to create a company where employees feel connected and supported, where their families flourish, and where they can contribute to their communities. I wanted to utilize the compassion and care I had learned in nursing in the world of business, and I felt like God was opening doors for me to do just that. I wanted my team to see that I wanted to invest in their professional growth and development, and I wanted our manufacturers to feel valued and respected. Above all, I wanted to build genuine relationships with our customers, understanding their needs and providing them with the best possible solutions. God has continued to allow all this to come to fruition. My teammates and I have built Ascential Buildings by focusing on high-quality products, exceptional customer service, and a team of highly trained product specialists. But more importantly, we have built a team that shows love to everyone we encounter in tangible and practical ways. As I look to the future, I trust that God will continue to guide me as we grow Ascential Buildings and make a positive impact on the world around us. With God at the center of my life, my future looks bright and I can’t wait to see how God continues to use this business to bless others in the years to come.
At Ascential, my goal is to build a resilient business where employees thrive and God is glorified!
