Gravel

The type of foundation you’ll need for a metal building will depend on the specific use of the building, as well as the local building codes and regulations in your area.

Typically, it is better to have your building placed on concrete or gravel, but other surfaces work too. Our install team will anchor your building into the ground in any way they can given the foundation you have.

Note: Our manufacturers will not install your metal building on Piers. A pier foundation consists of individual concrete or masonry blocks that are placed at regular intervals beneath the building.

If you are unsure, it is important that you consult with a local building inspector or a structural engineer to determine the specific foundation requirements for your metal building and the location you are planning to build. They will take into account your specific needs and local codes and regulations, and recommend the most suitable type of foundation for your building.

Your Foundation Must Be Level

No more than 3″ from end-to-end

No dips or slopes

Foundation covers the entire area

In the image above, you can see that the base rail sits directly on the foundation. If there is a gap in the foundation, the base rail will not make a good connection and will allow for moisture to seep through.
